Events

  • Gold Coast, 11-13 November – The AIBC Conference 2018: Partnering for Prosperity in a World of Change kicks off in two days. For those unable to attend, a Live Stream of the full Conference proceedings can be seen here (registration details will be required). The Live Stream will also be available “On Demand” after the Conference. AIBC encourage all viewers to Tweet them using the hashtag #aibc18.
  • Canberra, 17 November – The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Canberra is hosting “Festival Indonesia 2018”. Don’t miss out on colourful cultural performances, authentic culinary treats, and Indonesian music. There will also be a kids corner, photo booth and free Javanese and Balinese gamelan workshop. Ayo, bring your friends, family and loved ones for a taste of Indonesian culture.
  • Jakarta, 15 November – It’s AIYA Jakarta’s time to host the ReelOzInd! Short Film Festival. Come along to watch this year’s films, as well as hear a special discussion with Prof Ariel Heryanto and Dr Inaya Rahkmini afterward. There are more screenings of the festival taking place throughout Australia and Indonesia until the end of the year. Check out the festival tour dates here and find a screening near you!
  • Makassar, 11 November – Join AIYA East Indonesia’s (Makassar) “Lari pagi bareng AIYA” event this Sunday, from 7am @ Lapangan Hasanuddin, Makassar. Klik disini untuk informasi lebih lanjut!
  • Melbourne, 14 November – AIYA Victoria LX @ RMIT Swanston Academic Building 80, from 6pm.
  • Melbourne, TONIGHT – The Welcome Dinner Project aims to connect newly-arrived migrants with established community members over a shared meal in someone’s home or a trusted community space. Take part in this awesome initiative by coming to their Student Home Welcome Lunch (max. 20 places) on TONIGHT. Places are limited so register now!
  • Yogyakarta, 13 November – Join the AIYA Yogyakarta team for their weekly game of futsal from 5 – 7pm. Right now, it’s half-price for members and non-members. NO SKILLS REQUIRED – just come, have fun and make new friends. Check out their Instagram for more details.
  • Yogyakarta, 14 November – Join AIYA Yogyakarta for a game of bulutangkis next week, from 6-8pm. Follow their instagram for more details. 
  • Yogyakarta, 27 November – The AIYA Yogya futsal tournament takes place in just over two weeks. Teams have already been registered, but definitely come along and cheer on your favourite team!

  • Follow the link to apply for the 2019 Indonesian Art & Culture Scholarship. The scholarship gives the chance for Awardees passionate about the Arts to study and live within or around an Indonesian arts center, allowing them to experience the local heritage and interact with the local community.  Applications are due 11 November 2018. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, don’t hesitate to apply.
  • Apply now for the Asialink Business Sydney 2019 Internship Program. This is a voluntary internship in Sydney office from January 2019 to July 2019, one-day per week, 9.30 am to 5 pm. If you’re eager to apply, please email your CV and a cover letter to AIYA NSW Secretary, nsw.secretary@aiya.org.au. Applications close Friday,  16 November.   • Get involved in the 2019 Victorian Young Leaders (VYL) to Indonesia Pilot Program. The VYL Indonesia Pilot Program will provide a once-in-a-lifetime, six-week overseas immersion for 40 Year 9 students and accompanying teachers in 2019. Expressions of interest ​in the program (travelling in September / October 2019) will close on Friday 16 November 2018.
  • The Michael and Deborah Thawley Scholarship offers an Australian official, officer, student, or recent graduate an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the work of two leading think tanks, the Lowy Institute and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Find out more here!
  • Calling Australian residents of all ages that are learning a second language (including English and Indonesian to enter the SBS National Languages Competition 2018 to encourage and celebrate a love of learning languages in Australia, running from the 15 October -18 November 2018.   • Saksara Research and Australian State Government are working together to investigate the perceptions and experiences of Indonesian students studying in Australia. Complete their online survey that usually only takes 5-7 mins and you can win AUD$500. Don’t forget to forward this to all your Indonesian friends in Australia.
