  • Brisbane, 29 February – Indonesian Diaspora QLD in conjunction with Rotary Club Archerfield are organising a dinner event to raise funds to support communities who are affected by the current bushfire and drought, from 5:30pm at the Australian International Islamic College.   • Melbourne, 20 February – 28 March – Asia-Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts (Asia-TOPA) returns to celebrate the creative imagination of artists and cultures in the Asia-Pacific region. The events have shows showcasing the cultures of various Asian countries. Alumni of the University of Melbourne are eligible to receive a 15% discount. Check out out here.
  • Sydney, 1 February – Mosman Art Gallery, in conjunction with Indonesian Embassy and the Indonesian Consulate, are hosting a special exhibition/panel discussion entitled, ‘Jumaadi: My Love is an Island Far Away’ from 11:30am. Free event but bookings essential – see the FB event.

  • Applications are open for a two-year appointment as postdoc in Human Rights in East and Southeast Asia at Lund University. The candidate needs to have a written Ph.D thesis with a focus on some aspects of human rights in East and Southeast Asia. More Info.

  • The Department of Art History at the University of Sydney is currently searching for a Lecturer in Asian Art, open field. Full-time continuing position. Application deadline: 27 January 2020. More info.
  • The Australian Volunteers for International Development Program (Australia Aid) currently have a number of volunteer assignments in Indonesia, including a Speech Therapist Mentor, Provincial Cricket Development Officer/Coach and Marketing and Communications Officer.   • AIA ACT’s Indonesian language classes start 3 February, and run for 8 weeks. There are five levels (3 beginner levels, intermediate and advanced). Teachers are professional and native Indonesian speaking. Register here – early bird registration closes 29 January.
  • Want to advance your skills and knowledge in sustainable tourism management? Apply to join a Australia Awards short course in Australia this upcoming June. The two-week course is for tourism professionals from 15 provinces: South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi Gorontalo, Maluku, North Maluku, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Papua, West Papua, East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan.   • Radio Duta Nusantara is looking for volunteers. The Radio has been aired for more than 20 years and are now looking for the next announcer.   • Pemberdayaan Perempuan Memerangi Kemiskinan (PPMK) is a microfinance organisation based in Yogyakarta that work to empower women to fight poverty. They also provide free English classes to children and are currently working to establish an English book library, so children can continue learning at home.
