Victoria is home to most Australian students studying Indonesian language and culture in the country and the AIYA Victoria team looks to capitalise on this interest by hosting a range of exciting events year-round. Established in 2012, the Victoria team has built meaningful connections with the Indonesian community in the state and aims to spread awareness of the Australia-Indonesia relationship as much as possible. Committee Members

Angus graduated with a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne in 2020, majoring in politics and Indonesian studies. In 2021, he was selected to be an Australian delegate in the Australia Indonesia Youth Exchange Program, and he went on to become the first place awardee in the executive catergory of the National Australia-Indonesia Language Awards in 2022. Since joining AIYA, Angus has endeavoured to promote Asia liteacy, and facilitate the development of people-to-people connections between Australia and Indonesia. He has also developed a keen ability for project management and support, and aspires to be involved in international development projects within Indonesia.

Argi is an experienced Learning and Development manager pursuing a master's in Education at Monash University. Coming from a rural area in Indonesia, he was inspired to make an impact on society through education, leadership, and community relations. Joining AIYA in 2021, he aims to strengthen the relationship between Australia and Indonesia for mutual effects and collaboration.

Vice-President

Liam graduated from Monash University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Commerce and Arts, majoring in Accounting, Indonesian Studies and International Relations. He was a participant in AIYEP in 2020, which really piqued his interest in Indonesia further. Through this program he interned at Travelxism and built connections with those in the Australia-Indonesia space. He now works as a senior accountant at William Buck.

Wahid is a Master of International Relations student at the University of Melbourne. He previously worked at the Australian Consortium for 'In-Country' Indonesian Study (ACICIS), where he had the opportunity to get involved in Australia-Indonesia relations and got engaged with the AIYA Yogyakarta chapter. He is passionate about fostering Indonesian relations with Australia through education, youth empowerment, and culture. Wahid enjoys watching films, TV shows and musical theatre. As a newcomer in Melbourne, he is currently on a mission to rank all the ice lattes in Melbourne.

Annisa is a passionate individual with a Bachelor's degree in English Education from Indonesia and is currently pursuing her Master of Education at Monash University through the prestigious LPDP scholarship. She is passionate about exploring new languages and cultures, which has been enhanced through her participation in the Australian Indonesian Youth Association (AIYA). This involvement has broadened her cultural horizons and presented valuable opportunities for her personal and professional development. With a solid commitment to learning and a deep appreciation for diversity, Annisa exemplifies a global citizen ready to impact her community and beyond positively.

Lachlan has a Bachelor of Music and an Master of International Relations from the University of Melbourne, graduating in 2022. He learned Indonesian through a combination of self-study, short courses both in Melbourne and Yogyakarta, and some very generous language exchange partners. Lachlan is passionate about building mutual understanding between Australia and Indonesia, and is a big fan of Indonesian glam rock from the 1980s.

Victoria Winata is from Semarang, Central Java, and has lived in Australia since the age of 14. She is currently studying at the University of Melbourne, undertaking a Bachelor of Arts degree. Victoria is also a writer and theatremaker, often incorporating Indonesian history, culture, and personal anecdotes into her work.

Ashanti is a master student in Monash University majoring in TESOL. She enjoys learning new things, particularly anything that has to do with traditional and artistic cultures. Her interest in Aus-Indo space began to grow once she joined AIYEP in 2021, which gave her many incredible experiences in both personal and professional setting. She now serves as an aiya officer to further strengthen the Aus-Indo relationship.

Socio-Cultural Officer

Nanda Yudha Ikhwan Pradana, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in academia, consulting, and socio-cultural engagement. Currently pursuing a Master of International Relations at Monash University Australia, focusing on Global Migration, aligning academic pursuits with the vision to enhance socio-economic conditions in Indonesia’s frontier areas and foster stronger ties between Indonesia and Australia.

Nanda Yudha Ikhwan Pradana

Socio-Cultural Officer

Bevan holds a degree in Surveying and GIS from the University of Tasmania and is passionate about maps and global events. He has been learning Bahasa Indonesia since 2017 and now serves as a Socio-Cultural Officer at AIYA

Lara is a politics and communications graduate from the University of Melbourne who also completed a diploma in Indonesian. She spent a month in 2023 studying Indonesian at UKSW in Central Java. Her love for Indonesian started in high school and she aspires to use her passion for all things politics and communications to hopefully work with Indonesia in the future and improve bilateral relations.

Grace is currently studying a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Genetics) and a Diploma of Indonesian at the University of Melbourne. She is deeply passionate about biology and the natural environment, education, and Indonesian language and cultures.
