With a death toll of more than 1,200 people already and access to those affected hindered by severely damaged infrastructure, this number is likely to rise.   • Canberra, TONIGHT – The Indonesian Embassy in Canberra is hosting an interfaith prayer night from 6 – 7pm, to spread love and hope for the communities affected in Central Sulawesi. Feel free to join.
  • Adelaide, 11 October – AIYA SA are having a Language Exchange and Nongkrong at the Flinders Tavern! There will be free food, board games, and pool. Invite your friends. Ayo ikut!
  • Adelaide, 21 October – Join AIYA SA for a relaxing hiking through Lynton Reserve, for a chance to see some nature, kangaroos, and take some #selfies! This is a FREE event & family friendly.
  • Adelaide, 20 October – The Welcome Dinner Project connects newly arrived people with established Australian residents over a shared meal. The next Community Welcome Dinner is for international students living in the Adelaide CBD. Entry is FREE, just bring a plate of food to share. Register to attend here.
  • Bandung, October 9 – Join the AIYA Jawa Barat team for another Language Exchange! Starting from 7pm at CafeOz, the topic will be ‘Gaul dan Aussie slang’.

  • Darwin, 30 October – Charles Darwin University are hosting ‘Ideasfest-Indonesia’, an evening of presentations and activities focusing on Australia’s relationship with Indonesia, in celebration of October Business Month. This is a free event but registration is essential, just go to this link.
  • Gold Coast, 11-13 November – Save the date for the AIBC Conference 2018: Partnering for Prosperity in a World of Change! Registrations are now open for your chance to mingle with the who’s who of the bilateral business community.
  • Jakarta, October 7 – Join AIYA Jakarta at Bundaran Indonesia for a car free day walk from 6:30am. The event will go for 1-2km, and will raise money for the communities affected in Central Sulawesi.
  • Makassar, October 13 – AIYA Makassar will be hosting an LX event to raise money for Central Sulawesi. Come along to Mang Uwo from 7pm to join the team!
  • Melbourne, October 10 – AIYA Victoria is hosting a welcome evening and trivia night for the 2018-2018 Australia-Indonesia Youth Exchange Program (AIYEP) participants. Join them for a casual evening to get to know the participants and welcome them all to Victoria. Food provided.
  • Melbourne, 25 October – Join Monash Uni for an evening of celebration of the official launch of the Monash Herb Feith Indonesian Engagement Centre. Drinks and canapes are provided. Seats are strictly limited so registration is essential.
  • Sydney, 6 October – AIYA NSW are hosting ‘Let’s Share a Meal for Lombok’, a fundraising lunch with delicious Indonesian cuisine to raise funds for our Indonesian neighbours impacted by the recent earthquakes in Lombok. All money will be donated to Agung Siaga Community, who assist with post-disaster relief. Get your ticket here!
  • Sydney, October 11 – Join Indonesian Literature Club in Customs House Library at 11:30am for a fun and stimulating atmosphere to share and discuss a variety of literary works, both in Bahasa Indonesia and English. Space is limited, register your interest to [email protected].
