The Australia-Indonesia Youth Association is a non-government, youth-led organisation that aims to better connect young people in Australia and Indonesia to each other and to Australia-Indonesia opportunities by advancing education and culture through increased youth engagement. AIYA’s objectives are threefold:
- Connecting young Australians and Indonesians to each other, and to opportunities – educational, cultural and professional – to engage in the bilateral relationship.
- Informing young people about the bilateral relationship, and avenues to engage with Australia and Indonesia.
- Inspiring business, government, educational institutions and other organisations to support and facilitate youth engagement with Indonesia in Australia.
Volunteer position: Communications Officers (3 positions available: Social Media, Graphic Design and Web Officer)
Starting date: End of August 2018
Reports to: Director of Communications, Director of Operations and President
Role: The Communications Officers will work with the Director of Communications and communications team to manage AIYA’s communications on social media and its website. The communications officers will each fill the following key tasks:
- Social media management
- Website and email support
- Graphic design
Time Commitment: Approximately 4 hours per week

The position is open to young people from Australia or Indonesia who meet the selection criteria outlined. The roles are best suited to current undergraduate/postgraduate students or those that have just entered the workforce. These volunteer roles in the communications team are a fantastic opportunity to get involved in AIYA at almost every level. You’ll be working directly with the existing Blog Editors, the Director of Communications, AIYA Links Officer, as well as with the other members of the AIYA Communications team. You will also have regular contact with the National Executive, as well as Chapter representatives, while assisting to boost the presence of AIYA in person and online.
