ASEAN Emerging Researchers Conference 2019

Posted on 25 April, 2019

Welcome to ASEAN Emerging Researchers Conference 2019 (UK)!

The theme for the ASEAN ERC 2019 (UK) is ‘Answers to Global Challenges – Sustainability’. Sustainability however is often misconstrued as being limited to environmental elements and initiatives. In line with global agenda, the conference aims to re-educate, re-assess and/or re-align especially amongst the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on our understanding of, and our role towards sustainable global development and future.
ASEAN ERC 2019 (UK) will feature a keynote address and panel session with eminent leaders from various backgrounds and expertise, in addition to thematic oral presentations from multiple disciplines. A 3-minute thesis competition is also introduced for the first time in this conference, to promote research in a creative, engaging and succinct manner.
Presenters are encouraged to tailor their presentations for a non-expert audience, de-emphasising the exposition of technical methods (if necessary), and instead focus more on how their research OR field of study OR professional interests may potentially actualise inter-disciplinary or trans-disciplinary outcomes. More importantly, the presentations should attempt to highlight how the work could contribute towards the collective efforts in building a more sustainable future.
We emphasise that presentations need not be limited to an original piece of research, but, for instance, may constitute a review of their subject (in the case of undergraduates) or professional interests (in the case of an industry consultant).
Additional information on abstract submission and the conference can be found at https://www.asean-erc.com/uk.html.
Participants who wish to present should submit an abstract of their presentation to abstracts-uk@asean-erc.com.
