Be the first to hear about AIYA news, events and opportunities.
AIYA is the peak body for young people in the Australia-Indonesia relationship. With chapters across Australia and Indonesia, every week we reach thousands of young people with a passion for the bilateral relationship.
What does membership offer?
Join a friendly environment for young Australians and Indonesians
AIYA membership is open to the general public, and to people of all ages and backgrounds. Membership allows you to connect with young people in your area who are engaged in the Australia-Indonesia relationship, and to share your language and cultural experiences through language exchanges and other educational and cultural events. These events and programs range from debate nights and guest speaker events where you’ll likely learn something new on topical issues facing both countries, to film screening fund-raisers and Australia-Indonesia trivia nights that are focused on history, culture and current affairs.
A stepping stone to shaping the Australia-Indonesia relationship
Joining AIYA will open the door to a range of opportunities – both through our varied program of events as well as by introducing you to the many high-achieving young professionals that are AIYA members or sit on one of our executive committees. You’ll have access to information about education and other opportunities in government, academia and the private sector, and the chance to connect with potential mentors and career champions.
Get involved in running your local chapter
Anyone can be a member, but you’ll need to be aged 18-35 to have a vote at chapter AGMs and have a role on a chapter or national committee executive. You can then take the lead in planning and running major events, develop and advocate for policy and liaise with our like-minded partner organisations. When you’re a member, AIYA will become your organisation to help shape!
Discounts and member-only opportunities
Be the first to hear about member-only opportunities offered via our partnerships network. These include discounts to paid AIYA chapter events and fundraisers, and free access to UniBRIDGE’s online language exchange platform. Benefits vary from state to state, so please keep an eye out for your local AIYA chapter’s social media channels and newsletters to find out what great perks they have in store for you.
AIYA membership operates for the whole organisation
While most of our events are organised by chapters, your membership is valid across the whole of AIYA. This means you can attend AIYA events and receive member benefits all around Australia and Indonesia! Who is eligible to become a member?
AIYA membership is open to anyone interested in our aims and activities of connecting, informing and inspiring young Australians and Indonesians. Membership categories are as follows:
Full Member: Anyone between the ages of 16 and 35. These members have voting rights at Chapter AGMs and can hold executive positions in AIYA Chapters.
Support Member: Anyone outside the age bracket of 16 and 35. These members cannot vote at Chapter AGMs

How are memberships renewed?
Memberships with AIYA are valid for 365 days from the date of joining. When you join AIYA, you will be sent a welcome email from the AIYA National President. An automatic reminder email will be sent to your email address several days prior to the end of your one year membership period. You are then required to re-join AIYA and pay the membership dues for the next 365 days.
For more information or if you have any questions, please visit your local chapter page, or email the AIYA National team as follows: email@example.com
What if I am already a member of an AIYA Chapter?
If you are already a member of an AIYA Chapter, your membership and associated details will automatically be transferred to the National memberships database. When you receive notification that your memberships are due for renewal, simply follow the link, and rejoin AIYA online, or pay again in cash at your next AIYA Chapter event.
