  • The historical links between Makassan sailors and traders and Yolngu people in Arnhem Land continue to be explored, discussed and celebrated. The AIYA blog team interviewed Febrianty Hasanah, who visited Yirrkala in Arnhem Land in 2018 through her work administering the Makassar-Yirrkala Artists Exchange with Rumata’ Artspace (Bahasa Indonesia).

  • Bali, 3-5 November – Join the Indonesia-Australia Business Council (IABC) at their biannual conference along with leading government and business representatives. This conference will be significant in that not only will it focus on important milestones between both countries such as the IA-CEPA but for the first time this conference will feature a youth panel hosted by AIYA!   • Bandung, 19 October – Join AIYA Jawa Barat in their ‘Share and Care’ event where they will donate the books they collected during their Literacy Day event to Tunas Bangsa Orphanage.   • Canberra, 21 June – 27 October – The National Gallery of Australia (NGA) ‘Contemporary Worlds: Indonesia’ is a major exhibition of contemporary Indonesian art showcasing 20 of the most exciting emerging and established artists from Bali and Java’s key artistic centres of Bandung, Yogyakarta and Jakarta.
