In the news   

  • In a manifestation of friendship between Indonesia and Australia, a total of 38 personnels from the Indonesian Military (TNI) have arrived in Australia to assist overworked rural fire services fight bushfires in the country that is battling bushfires for months now. (SBS News)

  • Melbourne, 20 February – 28 March – Asia-Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts (Asia-TOPA) returns to celebrate the creative imagination of artists and cultures in the Asia-Pacific region. The events have shows showcasing the cultures of various Asian countries. Alumni of the University of Melbourne are eligible to receive a 15% discount. Check out out here.
  • Sydney, 13 February –  The Indonesian Literature Club in Sydney is holding their next group discussion at Customs House Library. For registration and information email [email protected]
  • Sydney, 20 March- Join AIYA NSW for its annual Malam Karier in UTS CB04.03.310 from 6-9 pm. This year’s topic will be “Human Skills We Need in an Unpredictable World,” to gear future work-seekers towards a complex future.

  • Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia is holding their annual essay competition for Indonesian students, Write to China. This year’s theme is ‘70 Years of Friendship: Celebrating Indonesia-China Bilateral Relations.’ To enter, you must be an Indonesian student between the ages of 18-24, your essay must be original, written in English, and 1000-1500 words in length.   • Want to advance your skills and knowledge in sustainable tourism management? Apply to join a Australia Awards short course in Australia this upcoming June. The two-week course is for tourism professionals from 15 provinces: South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi Gorontalo, Maluku, North Maluku, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Papua, West Papua, East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan.   • Pemberdayaan Perempuan Memerangi Kemiskinan (PPMK) is a microfinance organisation based in Yogyakarta that work to empower women to fight poverty. They also provide free English classes to children and are currently working to establish an English book library, so children can continue learning at home.
