Events

  • Every Sunday (13:00 WIB/4pm AEST) – Online or ‘Flexible’ Language Exchange (FLEX) runs in partnership with our friends from the UniBRIDGE Project. FLEX is the place where young Australians and Indonesians can meet to exchange ideas, make friends and practise their language skills. Join and be a part of this growing online movement between our two nations. Current AIYA members can register their FLEX account at: www.universitybridgeproject.org.   • 4 October – AIYA WA will host a networking and live streaming event, ‘Noton Bareng: ReelOzInd Festival Premier 2020’. Join for some food, film-watching and Q & A. More info here.

  • 7 October – Malam Bareng AIYA Vic & Yogya is hosting an informal games night. Members can join together to play ‘Among Us’ (a free-to-play application) and utilise both Indonesian and English language skills to complete the game together. More info here.
  • 8 October – Monash and President University present the webinar ‘Online Learning: Is it the future of education?’ Panelists will discuss the benefit of online learning, the current situation in Indonesia & supportive technologies. Register here.
  • 10 October – AIYA VIC & Jawa Barat are collaborating to celebrate Bulan Bahasa by having a webinar with a theme “Language Barrier”: a presentation about language barriers with a Q & A afterwards. More info & registration here.

  • 11 October – AIYA VIC are hosting the second webinar in the Karir Online series. This theme focuses on the opportunities in the humanities field (academic, journalism, government, tourism) in Aust or Indo. Register to  listen to the all female panel here.
  • 14 October – Come along to AIYA WA’s fortnightly Language Exchange for topical talks from like-minded people in the Indo-Aus space, and where you can bring questions, homework and a keenness to improve your language skills. More info here.

  • IA-CEPA Business Connect is a 3 month program (until 31 October) of online events hosted by Austrade. The events aim to increase two-way understanding about the bilateral opportunities, particularly Australia’s capability to meet Indonesian business needs. View events here.

COVID-19 support

  • The Directorate General of Immigration in Indonesia has announced some changes for Foreign Visitors in Indonesia regarding visas, stay permits, emergency stay permits, and entering/exiting Indonesia during this new normal. The Australian Embassy in Jakarta has highlighted such changes in their social media as well as on the Smart Traveller website. Please follow information on the Indonesian immigration website or social media for further updates.
  • The Australian Government has restricted its citizens from leaving Australia without exemption, and returning travellers to Australia are encouraged to plan their travels in advance. Access exemption applications and more official info here.
  • If you are an Australian citizen outside of Australia in urgent need of financial assistance, the government will provide additional support through an expanded hardship program. Further details here.
  • AIYA is providing updates on the status of COVID-19 and its impact on upcoming AIYA events as well as the current status of travel restrictions for Australian and Indonesian citizens.   • Prospera is seeking to engage an Activity Support Officer for its Public Sector Reform team based in Jakarta, to support Prospera’s work on public sector reform in Indonesia. The candidate will work in a team across the Government of Indonesia and Government of Australia’s partners. Apply by October 9. More info here.
  • The Centre for Indonesian Policy Research is seeking a bilingual Researcher. Applicants must be an Indonesian national with a Masters degree in agricultural economics, economics, public policy, and other related social science majors. Apply by 25 October. More info here.
  • Scholarships are available from the Chulabhorn Graduate Institute and ASEAN Foundation Joint Post-graduate Scholarship Programme in Science and Technology.  The scholarships are available for ASEAN nationals (except Thai) who are interested in pursuing masters at Chulabhorn Graduate Institute.
